"HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRECCE"
PAN'S 65TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED IN RIVOLTO

(text and pictures by Paolo Rollino/Aviation Reports)
More than 100,000 people attended the air show held at Rivolto Airport on September 6 and 7, 2025, to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the "Frecce Tricolori," the
Italian Aerobatic Team.
The public was able to observe up close almost all of the aircraft in service with the Italian Air Force, which were displayed in various areas of the airport:
from the single-engine Siai S.208 used for glider towing, to primary and advanced trainers, to the most current and high-performance fighters of the latest generations,
such as the F-2000 and the F-35; the most curious (and patient) were also able to enter and visit the interior of the C-27J transport aircraft and the HH-101 SAR/CSAR helicopter.
A dedicated area showcased aircraft formerly used by the first aerobatic teams and by the PAN itself. Of course, the next aircraft that will equip the 313th Aerobatic
Training Group was also on display (although only as a mock-up): the M-346 advanced trainer, in the colors that the PAN might adopt once it is in service.
The impressive air display featured numerous military and civilian aerobatic teams and air displays, which from morning until late afternoon
pleasantly entertained all spectators: the Patrouille de France (France), Midnight Hawks (Finland), Turkish Stars (Turkey), Krila Oluje (Croatia),
Patrouille Suisse (Switzerland), and the beautiful program performed by the Spanish EF-18.
Among the civilian teams, the Baltic Bees (Latvia) and the Italian formation WeFly! (comprising entirely of pilots with physical disabilities!), Yakitalia,
the T-28D and the AH-1 and Bo-105 attack helicopters, and the flight demonstrations of historic aircraft, such as the Caproni Ca.3 and the Spad XIII R of the
Jonathan Collection Foundation.
The Italian Air Force demonstrated its capabilities to the public with flight demonstrations of the F.2000, the T-346, and the C27J of the Reparto Sperimentale Volo (
Flight Test Unit); with the display of an HH-139 simulating a rescue operation; and with flybys of a pair of F-35s (both "A" and "B" versions) that highlighted the performance
of these fifth-generation aircraft. The flight display of the G-91R in the colors of the PAN was highly appreciated, especially by the older ones,a testament to the history
of the Italian aerobatic team. And of course, the display of the Frecce Tricolori, who closed the event on both dayswith the Alona maneuver, painting the longest
Italian flag in the world in the sky above Rivolto!
